Today we headed out a bit earlier, however still pretty late. We went to Namdaemun Market and checked it out during the day and then we walked over to Namsan which is a low mountain in the middle of the city and went up Seoul Tower that is on top of the mountain. Note we climbed stairs all the way up the mountain, and then we took a cable car down.

I’m still trying to place what kind of place Seoul is. I think it’s a little more like China than Japan actually, originally I thought it was about 50/50. The reason my opinion has changed is because of today’s market. Namdaemun Market is a huge market of chinese-imported goods that sell out in the street. The strange thing is that the entire market seems to be selling to 50+ women, which is a strange target audience.

Here is a bunch of pictures and a video in the end. There’s more on flickr and Emma made a video too!

Can someone please tell me what’s in this picture below. It looks very much like larvae and is absolutely grosse. At one place they were boiling them up in the street and it smelled absolutely horrific. I can’t imagine anyone eating this.

The following picture shows a bit of what I think about the architecture so far. Basically, the entire city looks like it was designed by the same architect within a 3 year span. It’s all white blocky-shaped buildings. This is not true of the whole city though. There seems to be new things growing up here and there that are very beautifully designed.

Nice view from up there. How cool the cars in the street look in the film clip, red on one side and yellow on one, depending on which direction they are going. Looks nice in the dark. =)

The picture is showing Silk worms that they eat in Korea. They are extremely tasty and of great nutrition value. Its small energy bombs!! To bad they dont have them in Sweden. I would eat a plate every morning instead of Corn Flakes (would pass on the milk and sugar though)
They are common in China as well.
    Try them *smiles*

I already have it confirmed from other people that they taste like mushy dirty cardboard.
      Nice try…

Amazing pictures… Can’t help looking at all those buildings thinking “how do they manage waste water for all those people?” Same of course for Tokyo, it must be super complicated to manage infrastructure on that scale.
